The transatlantic duo Echo Vector X has warmed up the analogue synths. Dusted off the Simmons drum kit. Jacked into a sparkling array of vintage guitar pedals. And brought their retro-future, cyber-noir brand of synthwave / synthpop to your ears. Taking cues from modern Synthwave artists like GUNSHIP, Timecop1983, and The Midnight as well as classic electronic influences from Gary Numan to Nine Inch Nails, and the Synthpop of Duran Duran to CHVRCHES, like a 1980s radio echoing through a 2020s dream, their retrowave sound blends science fiction, action movies, and pop culture to paint a vivid picture of a dystopian, post-apocalyptic world.
Echo Vector X are producer Erik Nielsen (Oxford, England) and songwriter James McDonough (Providence, Rhode Island), former roommates who met while working in an indie second-hand record shop and bonded over their shared obsession with video games, vinyl LPs, and chicken wings.
